BuddyPress User Circles v1.3.3

BuddyPress User Circles adds named circles to BuddyPress so members can sort friends and followers into organized groups instead of one flat list. It solves the problem of every connection seeing every update by letting users share activity only with selected circles. For webmasters, it avoids messy privacy workarounds, custom code, or forcing members to unfriend each other just to limit visibility.

You can use it to build coaching communities, alumni networks, learning sites, or niche social networks where students, mentors, clients, and moderators mingle. Members create circles like Close Friends, Clients, or Classmates, then post updates visible only to those circles and browse circle specific feeds from the Circles profile tab. It extends the BuddyPress friends component, notifications, and profile navigation, so daily management stays inside familiar screens while working alongside BuddyPress compatible themes and membership setups.

BuddyPress User Circles Key Features

• Dedicated Circles Profile Tab: Adds a clear Circles tab to BuddyPress profiles for viewing and managing grouped connections.
• Circle Based Activity Privacy: Users can publish activity updates visible only to one or more selected circles.
• Visual Friend Organization: Shows avatars with quick actions to add, move, or remove people from circles.
• Native Friends Component Hooks: Extends existing BuddyPress friends logic instead of replacing core connection handling.
• Circle Specific Activity Feeds: Members can browse updates filtered by circle for more focused interaction.
• Profile Navigation Integration: Fits into standard BuddyPress navigation and notifications for familiar user flow.
• Member Managed Privacy: Lets users limit visibility without unfriending, which helps keep engagement active.

• Lightweight Focused Codebase: Minimal settings and focused functions help keep site overhead low.

Download Latest GPL Version of BuddyPress User Circles

Download the GPL build to test circle creation, friend sorting, and circle only activity privacy in a staging site before touching your live community. Check the Circles profile tab, notifications, and theme compatibility, plus caching behavior with membership plugins. Sandbox testing prevents broken feeds or privacy leaks for real members. For a production community with active engagement, an official license is the right choice for updates and dedicated support.
